If you like “Thrillers” at the movies you will love thrillers at High school basketball games! Facing the #13 seated South Wasco County Redsides for their last 2A State Playoff game, the #9 seated Joseph Eagles boys knew that it was a game that was spelled out “all or nothing”.

As expected, the game was going to be a close one. At the end of the 1st quarter, the Eagles were leading by one point, 13-12. Halftime brought more points but the lead was still only by a single digit, 20-19. 

With less than one minute left in the 3rd quarter, Joseph lost the lead to South Wasco County leveling the playing field with a score of 30-30. The end of the 3rd quarter showed 32-32 on the scoreboard. 

Clocking 5 minutes and 56 seconds left in the 4th quarter, the Joseph Eagles advanced to a lead of 37-32. With just a little more than one minute left that lad increased to 41-37. When it was all over, the gym erupted into deafening cheers.

The Eagles won and secured themselves a seat in the 2020 1A High School State Championship with a final score of 43-40. 

The Joseph Eagles boys are scheduled to play their first game on Wednesday, March 5, playing #2 seated Triad at the Baker City High School, at 3:15 pm.
